I bought a joiner 20 years ago because I thought I had to buy one, natural progression. Fast forward. It is almost never used. Indeed, I find that with snipe, the joiner does a worse job than trying to straighten edges on a table saw. Fast forward some more. I took some local and out of state classes on hand tools, and discovered the joy of jointing an edge with a long well sharpened Stanley No. 8. Nearly perfect results.

I think I am going to hold off for a bit on the jointer. As much as I would love to go out and buy a new toy, I need to perfect the tools I have now. Eventually if i can get 220 to the garage I can drop $$ on an 8" parallelogram. The garage is unfinished so weather will then come into play. Or maybe in a year I will just buy the bench stop and learn, ruin more wood, then upgrade to a larger machine with a longer bed and fence setup
