Very impressive, preserves more of the wood by lessening the dovetail taper? Helps lock it all together in an earthquake zone? Is there a U tube video?

It says it is for a granary, so I'm wondering if the walls needs to resist some kind of outward thrust, maybe that part of the building is where the grain is stored? It seems like a lot of extra work just for a visual effect.
