I just used 8" 26 gauge round duct between the exhaust port and the filter...that was the size that was appropriate for my 2hp unit and they offered rectangular to round adapters which I purchased. But yes, you can actually build your own plenum no problem.

Yeah, I wondered if those adapters would work. I'll double-check that with my rep when he's back in the office. That would be a nice solution.

The heavy adapters are not "inexpensive" but they do take away the work of building a box, sealing it up so no fine dust escapes, etc...you just buy an appropriate length of round duct in the size you need. Since it's positive pressure, you don't even need the "thick stuff" on the outlet side.
