Thread: Old Brown Glue

    Old Brown Glue

I'm trying out some Old Brown Glue on some nightstands that I'm building. I have both the liquid and powdered versions and I think I like both equally. The powdered glue is great for complicated glue ups with it's long open time. I've found the best pot temp for me is around 150 degrees. I just used a hot plate with a double boiler since I don't have a dedicated glue pot yet. I did several rub joints with it and man that stuff tacks and holds like crazy. Patrick at OBG has several videos explaining the process and that spurred me to give it a try.

I know hide glue has been around forever and sometimes it's fun to step back and give it a try.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I’ve only used Titebond liquid hide glue, but have been interested in trying the Old Brown Glue. Didn’t know it was available powdered. Appreciate the input.
