    Poinsettias

Second carving ever: Poinsettias in a bowl, about 6 x 16.5". This will be part of a bigger Christmas project I'm working on. This part is finished and ready for painting. Carved in basswood.

Very nice! I've always admired that skill.

Project complete. It started with I thought I'd turn a couple of bells. Then "What to do with them?" . So I came up with this. Bells in the belfry with hand carved "JOY" and poinsettias. Bells are kentucky coffee with walnut hammers, with the back side cut out. Frame is Mahogany. The rest is Basswood. Poinsettias are painted using water color pencils. Bowl is burned with a pyrography pen. Letters are acrylic paint. It'll hang on the wall at Xmas time.
