A connection to the color of old grey machinery

I'm seeing more cars in this color. I really like this color. I guess it reminds me of old grey machinery. Toyota calls it cement grey.

What it reminds me of is the color often used on burial caskets, so it's hard for me to know right now if I will ever like
    grey again.

Jeep calls it "Sting Gray"...often referred to as battleship grey. . The color ended up on machinery for who knows what reasons, but I bet one of them was that was neutral and didn't look bad too quickly...

My car's color is called "Turbulence Gray". I wanted the car in a blue, but the gray one was the only one they had on the lot and it was a good deal, so I took it. I've come to really like the gray.

A lady friend of the family told us at least a year ago that a "lot of nice greys were getting popular". She was going to
    use one in a bedroom.

It's for people who can't decide whether they want white or black, which are the only other colors out there. Maybe they mix leftover half-empty paint cans.

Now that I think about it, our car is grey.

My dad built his work bench, in 1950, out of drawer units salvaged from the abandoned shipyards building Liberty ships in Richmond California. I think they came painted gray and he painted the frames to match. He referred to it as battleship gray. Our 1949 Plymouth had been repainted gray at one time so He probably knew the color name from that.
He had flown over British battleships in wartime so he did know their color. He "saw" shells flying past his window. He said it was like a fly went by. You knew something went by but did not really see anything and certainly had no clue what is was. The massive clouds of gunsmoke were a give away. They had seen the fleet a day or two before near Italy and were ordered not to tell anyone about it.

For me it depends on the vehicle. Saw a blacked out Ford Raptor in grey, very cool. I've seen it on small cars, didn't care for it.

I think it looks pretty good on this small car... although perhaps it's the car that makes it look good.

Seems like all you see in car colors is Black / White / gray/ silver. What ever happened to bright colors?
I have a large Chevy dealer close by. Seems like almost every car has black interior.
I have a Equinox and like it a lot but just hate the black interior.

This is a new grey for cars. I've seen silver and grey cars my whole life. There's something unique with this grey that makes it stand out to me.

Honda calls it " sonic grey pearl"
Steve "Turbulence Gray" has more silver on my screen images.
    As Jim pointed out Jeeps
    "Sting Gray" looks like it.

Yeah, I think my Turbulence Gray is a bit more sliver than gray.
