    Walnut Music Stand

For those who might have seen my "Well that was stupid." post from a couple months ago, here's a picture of the final music stand. I actually completed this back in November, but kept it hidden until Christmas since it was a gift for my son (he plays violin).

The base is pretty much right out of Woodsmith, and is adjustable for height. The tilt mechanism behind the tray is also taken from Woodsmith. The tray however is my own design, where I resawed a board twice in order to get that "double bookmatched" effect with the sap wood. I think it looks great. The lip is aligned with Dominos, but attached from behind with a couple screws (and a dab of glue in the direct middle).

The finish is Tried and True Original Finish, although I want to say I put some of their Danish Oil on it first.

That's outstanding! Wonderful artistic use of the material, too.

Nice job Steve - love the walnut matching. I bet he loves it.

Well done, Steve! Sure beats the heck out of the old metal one I have sitting around somewhere. Love the bookmatch walnut.

I think it has a subliminal trompe l'oeil thing going. It reminds me of a book stand ,with a book turned over by the
reader who knows he will be right back.

That was certainly not my intention, but now that you've said it, I see it! Thanks for your, and the other, compliments.

I absolutely agree with this...great observation, Mel!

The "page edges" are up-side down compared to the spine and cover (boards to old book sellers). But that makes it look
MORE like a book ! Now I know why high fashion dress shops often have two plastic ladies wearing identical dresses.
One facing the street ,one looking into the store. By seeing both sides you KNOW it's a real woman !
