    miter saw dust collection - 4" + 2.5" or 5"

Currently I am using 5" dust collection from under my mitre saw with a shroud around. It keeps the area clean thanks to gravity and the shroud but does not really pull dust out of the air.

I am thinking of switching it to 4" under neath an 2.5" to the DC port in the saw.

Has anyone tried this kind of setup?

Mine sort of works. If the Big Gulp under the saw was a Mammoth Gulp it would probably work better. Now that I have it hooked up to a more powerful DC it is catching a lot more.

Photos below are a couple years old now.

Yes that is almost identical to what I was thinking of. the one change is I basically float my mitre saw over dc under the saw, so there is no where for dust to go but down.

This is a miter saw dust collection solution I evolved into, involving:

    1. A plastic barrel shroud.
    2. 6” connected to shroud.
    3. 2 1/2 “ shop across connected to the saw port.

    It works great!

Sorry re pics orientation off. Just couldn’t get it right in the editor.
