    First Shaker Oval Boxes, Finished...

Thanks to all who answered all my questions along the way. I made mistakes along the way and learned, I hope. I messed up 2, but was able to save 1. I'm no finisher, but with yawl's help, I was able to get close to the old, used look I was going for. Thanks again.Shaker Boxes 4.jpg

Nice job, Derek ... now you have to put them to use. The Shakers didn’t make anything just to be pretty

Thanks all. Like I said, I have a lot to learn. They turned out to be a lot more work than I thought they'd be. That said, there's a lot of vid to follow, John Wilson answered many questions and you guys filled in all the holes. Hopefully, the next batch will go better than the first.

They look great Derek! The finish makes the wood look like chestnut. What did you use?

Thanks! I started with cherry. I did two coats of Amber Shellac, sanded, then applied 2 more coats of Shellac. After all that, I knocked down the gloss finish with #0000 steel wool.

I am jealous. Been wanting to make a set or 2 for at least 5 years. Congrats and thanks for sharing.
Rustic? Well, no. That was not my intention!
