    Fun little clock project

I had some extra maple kicking around and a couple days with nothing to do so I decided to make a clock. I bought a quartz mechanism off Amazon and got to it. Base is quilted maple, I inlaid 3/16” brass strips for the number markings, it was unpleasant but worth it. I mortised them shallow so they sit proud of the wood by about 1/16”. I sanded to 220 and put a base of BLO and blond shellac. I individually polished the brass and inserted them after the shellac after which I put 5 coats of gloss Mohawk nitro lacquer. End result turned out quite lovely.

Absolutely beautiful, Justin. The wood is spectacular. A fun project, I’m sure. It’s on my bucket list.
