3 hp 240 volt motor not starting

I have a 1992 NorthState table saw, motor just groans and trips 240v breaker, start cap is good and 240v is getting to the motor. No binding. Not sure if this motor has a centrifugal switch. Suspecting the motor at this point. Appreciate any advice y’all can give, maybe someone had a similar problem.

Try taking the belt off and see if it starts. While you have the belt off, give the motor a good spin (in the correct direction) and then turn the power on while it's spinning. Winding some string around the pully and pulling it will give it a good spin.

If it starts when you spin it, your problem is in the start circuit (centrifugal switch, starting coil and starting cap). If it doesn't start when you spin it, check the amps when you put power to it. Should be fairly high. If low, you may have a field coil problem which is serious.

Took off the fan and small cover and found a broken spring and burned up contacts on the centrifugal switch assembly.

Was able to put both pieces of the spring on and clean up the contact. It works!
The actual problem was the weighted spring assembly was stuck in the run position which prevents the starting capacitor to be in the circuit. When I first touched the assembly it snapped partially into the correct position as pictured.
