Oh boy, many years ago I bought these to turn and can't for the life of me remember what they are called (even google was of no help).
Any help appreciated (name and how to turn).
Thanks

banksia seed pod - sharp tools, look out for any seeds that may still be in residence (better to remove before you start...) face mask

Not positive about this, and I am sure others will chime in, but aren't these pods one of those things that some people react very badly to the dust?

They have a weird fuzzy layer (looks like red velvet) that gets everywhere and is not fun in your lungs, so mask up. That said, they are quite cool turned. You can fill the voids with colored epoxy or inlace or leave open. I've turned pens and carved a dish from one.
