NYT magazine article on building a Martin guitar

You may find this is behind a paywall, in which case I apologize. It's an article done for the NYT Magazine for Kids that walks through the steps of making a guitar at the Martin factory. If you build instruments you probably won't learn a lot from it, but the photography is really nice. Some nice, highly specialized machinery, but a lot done by hand as well.

I remember back in the '70s, Martin selling kits for making your own Martin guitar at home. At the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix, they have a whole workshop (sponsored by Martin, I inferred), that displays a lot of the old woodworking tools used in guitar making. Cool stuff whether your interests are in guitars or woodworking, or both.
