    Maple ambrosia finish

    Hey guys,

I'm looking at getting my maple ambrosia table (right) with a light black/dark color. (like the one on the left). The seller told me it's a 5% diluted black but wouldn't tell me exactly which type (dye, stain, lacquer).

Disregard the dots on my table, when I brought it in the shop it was raining so i'll have to re-sand it.

    Any help is appreciated!

I don't think it's thinned lacquer. The blotches lead me to believe it's either stain or dye applied by hand. I'd guess dye.

We often use a vinegar and steel wool solution to get that weathered gray on our maple. It actually changes the color of the wood. You simply change the dilution or exposure time to adjust the depth.
