I'm making a rectangular, extension kitchen table and looking to put in a commercial extension mechanism.
I'd like one that's easy to operate and don't care if it's wood or metal. I just want it to be smooth and quality.
THoughts?

Osborne makes great table slides and a lot of other stuff, too.
I use Watertown metal slides from Moin Hardware. Been using them for years and never had a complaint. They have doth equalizer ( for center pedestal) and regular.

Always use the word "impossible" with extreme caution
As in drawer slides, metal table slides work better. Lee Valley has some good ones, if they have the configuration you need.
I’ve also made table slides from heavy-duty sidemount drawer slides. Sometimes this gives you a length you can’t find in regular slides.
