Festool Guide Rail Old, Black Splinter Guard Question...

I'm having trouble finding the black splinter guard for my Festool guide rails. I can find the clear plastic type, but I like the black style better. Every time I think I've found it, I discover that it's actually the non skid strip and not the splinter guard. Help would be appreciated.

Did not know that guard was once black. I think I would prefer that as well. Looking forward to seeing if someone has a lead on it.

What I like best about the old black splinter guard is that it is non skid as well, so it helps hold the narrow workpieces in place.

After replying, I googled around a bit and found this thread on the Festool Owners Group forums. Don't know if you came across this or not.

It mentions that some people are using Makita replacement guard strip which is black.

All of my tracks have the black splinter guard...I guess that shows they were not recent purchases. LOL

It does. I was going to post this

It sticks better than the clear newfangled ones too.

Thanks. Just bought 2 of the 118” ones to try out. Hopefully, they’re the same thickness of the Festool ones.

    Derek,

Would you please post the results when the new Makita splitter guards arrive and are in use. I need new ones on two of my tracks, but am tired of fighting with the clear ones not staying put.

I always buy the Makita. Better splinter guards IMO and work just fine on Festool rails. Cheaper, too (I think).

How do you remove old glue after removing old guard?

I buy the Dewalt strips. They are black, easier on the eyes and much more affordable.
