    Search For Part

Is anyone aware of a part that would be similar to this, but much smaller and potentially that could be installed in the same way that you would install a threaded insert. I imagining something that when installed, would be flush with the surface, would have a sort of scoop out of it and a bar over top of the scoop so that you could slide a piece of string through to secure the string to this "anchor".

I've tried searching with a bunch of different terms, but just haven't been able to find what I'm looking for. Maybe it doesn't exist, but hopefully I just haven't hit on the correct terminology.

Tried searching through a few marine catalogs for stainless flush rope mount. Came up with nothing like your picture. Everything that cojmes up has a flip up d-ring or similar. I have seen what you are looking for in a boat shop years ago, but I can't recall what it is called.

Thanks Steve for at least confirming that what I'm looking for existed at some point in history. I'll try searching through some marine suppliers too in the hopes that it still exists.

Mark, sorry for the multiple post, but here is your item.

It's called by many different names by different manufacturers, but the idea is the same. Just Google "recessed anchor point" and it hits numerous items. Not all the same design, but similar.
Hope this gets you on the right track.

I have seen those much larger on aircraft flight decks. Used to tie down aircraft when parked. The searchterm seems to be "tie down point"

Had to look deep in them during FOD Walkdown because we had a lot of Southern boys with their “chaws,” and some would stash their wrung-out cuds in them.
