Thread: what do the suffixes on this wood list mean?

    what do the suffixes on this wood list mean?

    Anyone help me understand what the suffixes mean on this lumber list? FB, SP, PF, AB, 1C, CH, etc... thanks.

    They look like two-letter shorthand for standard lumber grades. 1C is likely #1 Common. SB is likely Select or Better. In a list like that I would have expected to see FAS (First and Seconds), so maybe FB is their version. Beyond that, I got nothing.

    I speculate that "Pennsylvania CH" refers to Pennsylvania Cherry. See also.

    FAS first and seconds? I thought it was Face and Side
