How to print a picture on painted wood

    Hello all,

I would like to make a small shelf to display for my son's trophies and medals. I want to paint it w/ the color of his school and also "print" the school's logo on it.
What process do we use for printing?

He worked so hard for them, thus I want to make a custom shelf to make it really special

    Thanks much

You could print off a decal, but I have no idea how big you want the logo.

The logo with the school name would be no more than 3x8"

There is a way with DAS its a image transfer process. You print the image on a sheet of plastic and with their solution you can transfer it to wood metal just about antthing.

    Look up DAS.

You can have a small business that does vinyl cutting do the logo for you and it's uber-easy to apply to your project.

Search on youtube for transfer picture to wood. There are a few methods depending on that kind of colour printer you have.

If you have a laser printer you can transfer your picture to wood using a clothes iron. There is another technique but I can't remember, ask your question in the Laser Engraving Forum.

I have done this in the past by running tissue paper (like used to wrap gifts) taped to printer paper through my printer. Then applying the tissue paper to the wood using lacquer and over coating it a bunch. Takes practice but does work.
