I just purchased an inshave that appears to be rather old: I don't know who made it but it does have a mark as shown in the image below. Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks in advance.

Scorp is the more common term. Also, I believe that is a Hirsch logo, W. German tool company. May not be as old as one might think as some of their tools are a bit rough when new.

More like a bent drawknife. Useful for quickly scooping out wood from a concave shape (such as a chair seat, as Glenn mentioned).

Thanks, John! Looks like it's Hirsh, then. I wonder how old it is.

It looks very much like the ones made currently, but may not have been cared for as it has a darkened appearance. I believe the parent company is Kirschen and they sell under the names Two Cherries, Hirsch and Kirschen. The metal in the scorp seems good, but the finish of the metal is usually rough. I had a two handled scorp like the one you show marked Two Cherries and a single handle marked Hirsch.
