    Tsunesaburo Stanley Replacement Cutters

Back when Stu was still open he sold Stanley replacement blades made by IIRC Tsunesaburo. I think Tools from Japan did as well before WoodCraft. I've been trying to find a source but so far no joy.

I still have a couple of 2" and one 2 3/8" but I could use a couple more and would love to find a 1 3/4". I'm not sure they ever made a 1 3/4" but it sure would be nice to have a #3 with a laminated iron.
Of all the aftermarket cutters for Stanley planes these are the best. They are thin like the OEM blades but laminated with blue paper steel for the cutting edge harden to something like 68 Rockwell. It could be a little less but whatever the edge gets High Carbon sharp and lasts a long time plus I can sharpen on JNATS.

The Japanese cutter with a OEM chip breaker in a good vintage Stanley is almost perfect, light, easy to sharpen without a grinder, and a chip breaker that works the way Bailey designed a chip breaker to work. A near perfect metal plane.

If anyone knows a current source I would appreciate a link.

Axminster in the UK carries some "Samurai" blades that I'm pretty sure are the same ones:

The one in the pictures looks just like the one that I have, and I got mine from Stu's Tools from Japan store.

    Ken,
I managed to find their web site, https://www.tsune36.co.jp/items-service/items007/, if you use Google Chrome, it'll translate it for you. They don't seem to make a 1 3/4" (45mm) blade only 60, 50, 40, and 35 mm.
