    Waterlox VOC finishes ?

I asked waterlox about their original finish and original VOC finish and this is the reply. Is there an advantage to one over the other when applying it? More open time, levels better? or just less smell?etc...

"The Original Finish is about a 650 VOC and the Original VOC Finish is a 350 VOC. This olly has to do with the solvent that is used.

In the end there is no difference in the finish once down on the wood.

The difference is that the Original uses mineral spirits as the solvent to carry the finish to the wood.

The Original VOC used an exempt solvent to do the same.

The exempt solvent is a little more aggressive than the mineral spirits so we do not recommend using the two systems together as the VOC can lift the Origninal finish if applied less than 6 months after the Original has been laid down.

The Original Finishes can be used over the Original VOC Finish, however the Original VOC Finish cannot be used over the Original Finish unless it has been down for the 6 month period."

    Thanks.

Got my answer. They are the same product in application and durability. Low VOC version is designed to meet state or country requirements where it is required. Brian
