    The rest of Thursday's finds

One garage sale, was so "good", I went back twice....
    1st trip...didn't have a lot to spend..so...
Thursday Garage Sale, Stanley No. 31.JPG
$2 for that Stanley No. 31 Jointer plane...24" long. Has the "Eagle" logo on the toe.
Went back again...spent $6 on three items...
    Thursday Garage Sale, first trip.JPG
$1 for the centerfinder, $2 for the Bishop No. 10 saw...$3 for the Stanley No.3c
Thursday Garage Sale, Stanley No. 3.JPG
    The No. 3c had...issues....
Finally, in an effort to find out if the iron/chipbreaker had fallen out..I went back a third time....didn't find them, but..
    Thursday Garage Sale, die set.JPG
    $2 out of the $4 I had, went with these...the other $2?
    Thursday Garage Sale, saw set.JPG
    A Morrill No. 1 B saw set....

That Garage sale is running this Saturday, too.....and I have already spent my tool allowance for this weekend...
Have already started the rehabs....will post when done....just a tease?
    Thursday Garage Sale, patent dates.JPG
Replacement tote, to replace the replacement tote that was on there...
    Thursday Garage Sale, two adjusters.JPG
    Not a bad weekend?

Well, the Bishop saw is also cleaned up, and ready to go out to be sharpened....there is that centerfinder No. 11 that is also cleaned up....which leaves those dies..
    Thursday rehabs. regular Dies.JPG
    10 keepers, 2 spares, and a pair of wrenches/holders....
    Next?
    Stanley 31 rehab, the Keel.JPG
Well, this is the sole of that Stanley No. 31 Jointer plane
    Stanley 31 rehab, Bow's Logo.JPG
Got out the Stanley No. 8, type7 to flatten a very bad sole..
Stanley 31 rehab, 1 finger on the bow.JPG
IF I press down on the "Bow" of this Carrier....the stern raises up a bunch..so..
    Stanley 31 rehab, sole work.JPG
Then the sides were squared to the sole...as some seem to think that is needful( I'd LOVE to see the shooting board this would use..)
Stanley 31 rehab, Starboard side planed.JPG
I did find a use for the WR No. 62....
    Stanley 31 rehab, stern quarter.JPG
Not a lot I can do with this area,...so, I just gave the entire body a heavy coat of BLO..
    Stanley 31 rehab, BLO sealer.JPG
And watch some of the cracks close up. Ironworks has been given a decent coat of black paint.....letting things dry overnight.

Need to stop by Wall E World and buy a wood dowel....and fill all the worn out screw holes....and drill new pilot holes....
    Stay tuned..

Wooden 3/8" dowels have been bought.

    The Centerfinder?
Thursday rehabs, No. 11 center finder.JPG
And the Bishop No. 10...handle details, and
    Thursday rehabs, Bishop handle.JPG
    And the etch
    Thursday rehabs, Bishop etch 2.JPG
Intend to haul this saw down to Piqua, OH. where there is a sharpening service...

Plan is, to drill out the worn out screw holes, glue in the 3/8" dowels...then come back and drill new pilot holes. Then clean the bolts up, and re-install them...
Shop is closed, today...that..Monday thing....may try tomorrow....not sure IF I'll need to plane the top/deck of the plane...yet..

As for pipe thread stuff? There is one die marked as NPT....1/8"
    Thursday rehabs, pipe cutters.JPG
And a set of pipe taps....up to that Greenfield 1"- 11-1/2 monster...may hay to make a separate box for these?

    Ok..worn out screw holes repaired...
    Stanley 31 rehab, dowel install.JPG
3/8" dowels......then...the wood body snapped in two, right at the mouth opening...glue, cauls and clamps to fix that..
    Stanley 31 rehab..break repair.JPG
Let it sit a day or two...clean up the excess glue, and run the #8 around, to flatten as needed..
Stanley 31 rehab, repair cleaned up.JPG
Including taking down the dowel plugs flush....

Went out and bought some "lumber"
    Next Project, Lumber supplies.JPG
1/2" x 5-1/2" x 24" Poplar. So I can start on building a case to store all the taps, dies, and their holders/wrenches.....may have to get a few more, to hold the Pipe thread taps.
Need to sort through the stack of taps, and stash away the bad ones, ones I can't read what they are. Once the "School Desk has been cleared off..
    School desk....JPG
Then draw up a plan of some sort...or two? And then wait on Moose & Squirrel Delivery Service to deliver the drawn up "Plans"....
Stanley 31....need to drill new pilot holes...
    Stanley 31 rehab, VIX Bit.JPG
Rear handle has a coat of oil finish...
    Stanley 31 rehab, refinished tote.JPG
Front one will need a few more coats. Need to clean up the OEM screws..
Stanley 31 rehab, rear of frame.JPG
So I can attach the frame to the plane's body...

Sounds like a busy weekend, ahead....stay tuned...

Glad to see the old transitional is getting cleaned up and not sent to the burn pile at Patrick Leach's place.

I bought a similar transitional jointer for $7 last year. I got it to work pretty decent, but find myself reaching for my no 8 more often than not.

    More fun...
    Stanley 31 rehab, #28.JPG
Stanley #28 in front, as it needed an iron and chipbreaker. As the one from the recent No. 31 refused to work when cleaned and sharpened ( could not get it to retract enough) but, it did work great in the #28.

The #31 behind it? Have had it for almost 10 years, now...still works great.
    Stanley 31 rehab, same frogs.JPG
Side by side of the 2 No. 31s...
