Question Bishop saw, and a saw set?

Some of the Thursday Rust Hunt.....involves a Bishop #10 saw...
    Thursday Garage Sale, first trip.JPG
    ($1 center finder...)
    And a saw set..
    Thursday Garage Sale, saw set.JPG
The Bishop saw merely needed a good cleaning,,,and I found a readable etch....not only on the depth stop bar/clamp(including the Patent date) but a full etch on the saw plate....rip teeth weren't too bad....the fine crosscut teeth were badly worn....some places, they were completely...gone..

The saw set? Strange looking critter...not sure who made it...yet...traces of black on the handles, and red on the thumbscrew.....any clues?

Etch on the bar..with a patent date

Those "fine" teeth are about shot....."rip" teeth are still good...
    The saw set?
    Thursday Garage Sale, two adjusters.JPG
    has two adjustable "anvils"
    Thursday Garage Sale, second anvil.JPG
This one slides in a slot, and has a beveled end...

Everything cleaned up, everything works....have no idea who made it.....

I used to have a Bishop just like that. Interesting saw but I never used it. You got it for a great price.
Sharp solves all manner of problems.

    Thursday rehabs, Bishop etch 2.JPG
Cleaned up, before it gets hauled to the sharpening service
    Thursday rehabs, Bishop handle.JPG
Handle details...on the other side of the handle...there is a patent date stamped into the wooden handle...

Thinking maybe a 9ppi to replace the fine toothed edge....

    Steven,

I have seen photos of saws like that but have never held one or tried it. After you get it sharpened, give it a go and let us know what you think. The question in my mind was always "how well will that movable depth stop work?"

    Thanks and regards,

    Stew

For me the movable depth stop is a great feature. It worked well for this project > https://sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?135061

None of the 104 dovetails on this project were over cut.

So I can tell the Sharpening Service....the "coarse" side seems to be..ok

I have a similar saw set that belonged to my grandfather. He's passed away now, but he told me it was very old when he got it when he was a young man.

I'll take pictures of it when I get back in the shop. He had another one that had Victorian style decorations on the tool; I'll take pics of that too.

Road Trip today....didn't spend a cent...nice and quiet 2 hours. Dropped 2 saws off at Chuck's.....said they may be ready a week from this coming Friday...

When I gt them back home, I'll post a couple pictures of both saws in action.

Does anyone have any history on these pieces?

The reason for the delay at the sharpening service? Well, you know the "trimmers" used to shear sheep? He has 40 cutters/blades to get sharpened back up.....

A while back, since I didn't use the Millers Falls No. 214 saw set....it was donated to the sharpening service, as Chuck would use it a lot more than I would.

He also has a 24" circular saw blade to sharpen up....Chainsaw season hasn't started ...yet...
