    dust collector upper filter bag

    morning folks,
i have a 20? yr old powermatic 73 dust collector.
shortly sfter purchasing i remember buying a "1 micron cloth filter bag" which has been great, however..........
thinking its time for a replacement.
any idea where i can find such a fit? replacing dust collector at this time not really an option. and it seems to still work fine
    in my 9 x14 shop.
would appreciate any help in locating.

    regards
    Eric

Eric, I know of americanfabricfilter.com by someone's recommendation here on SMC, but I have not done business with them.

American Fabric Filter can match your machine and help you with an appropriately sized bag as far as square feet of material. Most commercial units come with undersized bags for appearance / convenience. When I put a proper sized bag on my machine way back when, there was enough boost in performance that I still find use for it today despite having a cyclone and other collectors. They have a lot of info on the site but, a phone call can be quicker.

It started to balloon like the undersized bags do after a decade or so of service. I turned it inside out and used a brush attachment on the shop vac. Presto! I had forgotten how well it worked when new. Ready for the next decade.

How often do these bags need cleaning or replacing?
I have strong suction but they sure look dirty inside.

That “dirt” is actually helping with the filtration , believe it or not.

    Typically called seasoning.

Have you considered going with a cartridge filter instead?
