Infeed/CC Sled Table for DeWalt 7491 RS

Job site saws typically have small tables that limit support for stock in feed. As a result cross cut sleds become difficult to balance in front of the blade without tipping. Fortunately for the DeWalt 7491 RS a simple infeed / support table can be built that can greatly improve functionality.

The table slides into position without tools, and is fully self supporting. A casting feature under the saw table provides a solid, repeatable stop for miter slot alignment.

The table wasn't designed. Rather it was constructed in place from shop scraps starting from the top down. A few clamps, scraps and edge banding (for spacer shims) allowed this simple table to be built in little time. Once the pieces were all fitted, they were temporarily attached with hot glue and CA glue. The assembly was then removed and reinforced with screws. It looks a little rough and ugly, but it had zero cost and was a good use of scrap cut offs.

The cross cut sled can now be pulled completely clear of a raised blade without tipping.

If anyone would like more detail, I have a PDF with more info free to share.
