    Antique Strike Box

A friend of mine is building a replica door from late 1800's in Texas. He has the original door knob and locking box that was attached to the outside of the door and used a skeleton key to lock. The strike box, as he described it, is missing. He said it should be about 3-4" tall and a couple of inches deep x maybe 3/4"-1" thick. Does anyone have a resource for old (new) door hardware like this? Not sure if this was the correct forum, so mods please move if appropriate.

    TIA

Try these. Not sure exactly which one would be best for your situation. Not affiliated with either except as a customer

When I’m looking for old hardware the first place I check is eBay. Even if I don’t know the exact name of the item a search for what I think it might be called results in further clarification and more precise search terms.

Check antique shops and architectural salvage places.
Take the lock mechanism along to match

That style of lock is called a "rim lock". The link below shows several:

Do they still make surface mount deadbolts? That may be a source of a strike box.

I've had good luck finding replacement parts for really old hardware on ebay.
