    Did I do okay?

Went rust hunting this weekend, ended up getting everything for $200 even, Kind of feel like I over payed a bit. Everything is in pretty decent shape, except the double spoke shave, I should've checked it over closer, the straight iron in it is actually cracked at the cutting edge. Picked up the 45 for $75, which may have been a bit high considering it didn't have any irons, but condition was excellent. I figure if I can pick up a set of irons for 75-80 it won't be too bad overall?. I'm trying to decide if I should modify the router iron. I haven't measured it yet, but I'd guess its 1/2" or so, is that too big for general purpose use? Other than that how did I do?
    Thanks Michael lot of tools.jpg

    Good value for money.

The larger wood body planes are interesting.

The 1/2" router blade is the perfect size for cleaning 3/4" dados.

    Thanks Jim
I plan to out the try plane to use. The sole has considerable twist in it, so it'll need some work. But the iron is very nice and I already got the back flattened.

Was the beer included in the price of the lot?

No but it helped ease some buyers remorse.

    Hi Michael,

I think you paid a relatively fair price. If it was a garage sale or estate sale I would have wanted to pay significantly less, but for other sales I think you did OK.

On something like that auction site you could have ended up paying significantly more, given the condition, but you never know on that site. Given the condition of the materials, however, you saved yourself a ton of labor to get them in good user condition. For that reason, I have gotten to the point of paying a little more to save myself tons of work.

Overall given the condition, I might have paid the same money you did.
