Second 2 hour session is done..I'm whopped....and a bit out of shape, it would appear....
Both glue ups came out of the clamps...Pine was easy to plane flat...the Ash?
    Plane Pine, Ash grain.JPG
had to come in from the other direction....next A couple corner joints...
    July Project, corner joint.JPG
Case side to the case bottom connection...Back of the case used a little different joint..
    July Project, back panel's joint.JPG
    Next was a dado ( or 10..)
    July Project, lower divider.JPG
Goes between the upper and lower drawers....
July Project, 4 dado clean up.JPG
To (almost) match the 2 dados in the bottom of the case ...
July Project, 4 dado clean up.JPG
    This got 4 dados...was a bit thin...
    July Project, kind of thin.JPG
More dados...lots of parts getting milled...did a big dry fit,,,to see how the back will fit to the case...
July Project, dado lay out, again.JPG
It didn't...because I needed two more dados milled....
    July Project, enough dados.JPG
I think that should do it....
    More to come...stay tuned

Dados..make a few cuts with the tablesaw ( depth and width ) then clean them out with the 71-1/2
    July Project, lay out work.JPG
This is the plywood panel for the bottom of the case...lay out line were correct...cuts were on the wrong face....design change! there is now a slight step at the bottom of the case.
    July Project, dado work.JPG
    Ooops. No biggie.
    July Project, dry fit fight.JPG
Arrow points to an Ash filler strip that will cover the pine edge...Dry fit to also cut the dividers that go between the drawers...why the double dado above...Ash panel for the compartment floor also has a pair of shallow dados....Around the top, will be Ash...so...had to size 2 strips to about the right size..
    July Project, Ash trim fitted.JPG
One in Front, and this one in back ( better to grip the hinges for the lid)
    July Project, dry fit, back.JPG
This is going to be...."fun" come glue up time....
    July Project, square corner.JPG
Have to keep an eye out for square...once the assembly begins....

That's enough for one day...I'm whopped. Maybe tomorrow I might get something done?
    Stay tuned

    Stay tuned..

Took half of the clamps off...and paused while I put them away..
    July Project, half the clamps.JPG
Nothing flew apart...took the rest of these clamps off. Needed a small part cutter cleaned off..
    July Project, small part cutter.JPG
So I could make a few parts to build up a face frame....and glue the parts in place...

July Project, mo clamps, mo clamps.JPG
The reason the rest of the back wasn't attached today...clamps needed a way to clamp to the back....from the middle of the case.

I also added the final side to the "box top"
    July Project, box top.JPG
Waiting on glue to dry, again....at this rate, it will be August before I start on the 6 drawers....
    Stay tuned....

Needed big cauls to span to the side.

Back has been cleaned up along with the rest of the box's sides....decided to add a base to the box...
    July Project, needs feet.JPG
Needs feet for in the front...may get a bit fancy, there....
Tablesaw was set up to rip parts for the drawers....mainly the 3/8" thickness....blade at full height...
    July Project, not deep enough.JPG
Bandsaw is still down...how to safely finish this cut....can't access the bench vise....hmmmm...
    July Project, follow that kerf.JPG
Set the saw blade down into the kerf....about a dozen strokes of the saw later...
    July Project, cut complete.JPG
Saw lands on the wooden deck, cut complete...problem?
    July Project, too thin.JPG
Miter saw is thinner than the tablesaw's blade...not a biggie, a few swipes with a smooth plane to flatten things out...

More rips and cross cuts...working on getting drawer parts milled to size..
July Project, drawer fronts and sides.JPG
2 sides per drawer front, and making sure they all slide in.
Waiting on the glue to cure...stay tuned

    Clamps came off, today (again..)
    July Project, drawer parts ready.JPG
Spent about an hour...ripping, crosscutting, rebating, and a dado or 12...
    July Project, fancy joints.JPG
Sides need two different sized rebates...one for the back to sit in..
    July Project, back.JPG
Front was a bit more involved...
    July Project, drawer front joints.JPG
    Then glue nails and clamps...
    July Project, 4th drawer.JPG
Needed a small pilot hole drill bit, for the nails..
July Project, nails, pilot hole drill.JPG
ran out of the smaller clamps....still have two more to assemble..
    July Project, 2 to go.JPG
Figure while I am cleaning up the first four, I can get the last 2 assembled...
    July Project, square corner.JPG
At least the case is square...

Picking dried glue off me fingers....stay tuned...

    July Project, lid work.JPG
Trimmed for length, width, and the ends squared up...
    July Project, T&G joint.JPG
T&G for the bread board ends...
    July Project, 3 clamps enough.JPG

Motor on Bandsaw was replaced, today. And, that was enough for one day...

Molding last night was cut with a mitersaw....90 degrees and 45 degree cuts..
    July Project, mitersaw at work.JPG
Used a pine backer board....back of the molding did have a rebate( wainscot cap rail)
    July Project, mitered corner.JPG
Worked from around Midnight last night to around 0100 hrs this morning...
    July Project, lid dry fit.JPG
Bandsaw is needed to cut a few corners, and make a lift handle on the front edge...
Waiting on hardware to arrive at my mail box, this week....handles, hinges and other parts...
    Stay tuned..
