    What kind of tree is this?

    I'm thinking this is a type of Hickory, but I'm not sure. What does the creek say?

    Hickory.

    Slim possibility it’s pecan, but fruit is a bit too rounded and you are a bit too far north to support this. IMO

    Looks like pignut hickory. What does the bark look like on the trunk?

    I don't believe a pecan. We have a ton of them here in TX. The foliage and fruit don't look quite right. Also, pecan fruits are about the size of peanuts right now. Not that large 'til Fall.

    I right clicked the images, and chose "search Google for image". The closest thing I found was Mockernut Hickory, but some had the same leaves, and some different.

    Then I searched for "Pignut Hickory", and believe Patrick made the right call.

    Never seen either of those down here.

    Looks just like the one I had in my backyard, I'd say it was Pignut Hickory as well.
