    Used LT16HD

    Hey guys,

Want another opinion. If yall stopped giving such solid advice I wouldnt have so many questions hahaha.

    But I found a used Laguna LT16HD. It's from 2000. S/N is 2k046028

Going to attach some pictures as well.

The asking price is 1500. In it's current condition, assuming she runs. Think its worth roughly 1500 and the work to refurb it? Definitely on the rougher side but could be a diamond in the rough. Yall definitely know bandsaw specifics better than I.

Is that a 16" single speed saw worth 650-1,100 all day long if it is variable speed and includes a welder. For single speed max is around 750.

My LT16HD is from 1999, and it has been a champ. The pictured one is kinda beat up. Rust all over, obvious wear. Considering the looks, I'd sure want to cut some wood on it before I'd put money down. Maybe the wear is just cosmetic. But maybe there are worn bearings or tires or the like. I'd pay $1500 or even $2K for one in really good running order, considering a new now costs $3500. I'd mark it down from there by the cost and hassle of the refurbishment.

No not worth the money, I have a 18''Laguna and they are a great saws, but this is not worth that price.

I've had my LT16HD for about 11 years ... time-and-again I've wished that it was a 20" or larger. I'd hold-out for something bigger! That one looks-like it's been rode-hard for many years without much care. I would do a meticulous inspection of all bearings.

As above, the asking price is high. Laguna retailed the LT16 HD for just under $1,900 in 2000.

IMHO retail when sold is mostly irrelevant. What matters is condition and what it would cost to buy one today at that condition. I had a Laguina LT16HD. They were made by ACM in Italy and they were among the very best 16" saws made. To put it in perspective $1500 for a used one versus a new Rikon or Griz, no comparison. Also Laguna offers many grades of saws. ACM made different grades too.

I had the LT16HD and upgraded to a 21" Felder as I was able to sell the Laguna for $1500 and I stole the Felder for $1100

That machine to me looks like it just needs a through cleaning. Maybe bearings which if you do every last bearing including the motor would only be about $100 bucks. If that saw was for sale in Alberta where I live it would sell for $1500 easily ,in fact I would take a run at it myself. I can not speak for what it is worth where you are located.
