    Recent saws

Just thought I would throw up a couple of saws to see what folks think.

Beauties Ron. The ebony against the brass and the plate is striking in contrast. I have always liked your details.

The Ebony saws were sold very quickly. I would have liked to have kept those myself.

Wow! Especially like the ebony. I can see why they sold quickly.

I can understand why they all sell quickly! I tend to favor the madrone and gents wood, but that’s just me. I like seeing a lot of grain. Someday, Ron, someday....

That half back saw is definitely something that I don't need but certainly want. It doesn't look like Ron is selling these anymore.

    Good morning, Hilton.
I actually do still make them, but they go poof about as fast. I do have a couple of them laid out in resin infused maple burls, for myself. Just a question of getting to them. I just finished a single loop in Claro. Left handed no less. Why? I don't remember. The blank was cut out and put in a drawer a couple of years ago. I have since made some subtle changes. With respect to hang angle, I used to make a 20* and 25* version. Now I just make a 23*. When things went south a few years ago, I decided to make some changes. No more 2 year back logs, etc. I may be changing the way the brass backs are fastened as well. No more lock-tite or glue, but still removable. That's another story. Hoping to add a triple loop dovetail at some point to match the triple half back. At least that's the plan. Time will tell.
    Best wishes

Ron, I'm just curious, but why didn't you make double the number of saws?

I'm just reminded of a line in the movie Contact, by the H.R. Hadden character, "First rule in government spending: why build one when you can have two at twice the price?"

Many years ago, my dad made a mission style bed in solid oak for my sister, it would have been trivial for him to make two, but I didn't go for it, I wish I had. You can take a look at it here.
