1st yard sales of the season...

There were 2, this morning....first was a "drive-by"....just clothes and nic-nacs, meh....

Second one warranted a STOP!.....got to sorting through all the tools...spent $6 on 3 items....then spent $8 on a large flat rate box of Lego parts for the 10 yr old GrandBRAT.....
There were a couple block planes....first thought a M-F #75 would be ok....put it back down for a Stanley version in better shape...there was a 6" compass from Newark, NJ....

Went to sharpen the iron on the No. 110.....still had the factory grind. Yup, a tad dull....has been sharpened up enough to shave arm hair with.

Had one of those style #110s when I first started out woodworking....finally wore it out.

Still Trying to find out who made that compass over it Newark, NJ, USA

First couple of letters I can read...Wm Johnson....Also stamped as "Tempered" and 6......may look that up?

Yep...Wm Johnson of Newark, NJ, USA. Tempered, 6" compass.


Called a "bottle cap" because of the shape of the tightening wheel resembles a bottle cap....some were painted, some were plated.

Ok..Millers Falls did make a block plane numbered 75...stamped into the left side....Millers Falls No. 75

A few hammer adjusts, went from Moxxon TP to see through shavings.....even put it to work, today...

Resaws weren't as flat as they should be....

Should be a decent enough block plane, for under $3...
