antique finish for oak trying to remember

A few years ago I built and arts and crafts book case out of white oak and finished it to look like it was antique/aged. Directions were to apply a light coat of gunstock stain and I finished it with Waterlox. I lost the printed directions and I know there was another stain on top of the gunstock and can't remember what it was. Process was to make the flacking pop and it did. Any one familiar with this process hep please?

    Thanks.

I make regular reference to the recipes and procedures described for replicating Stickley type finishes without fuming. Dyes, stains, top coat of some kind. Is this the procedure to which you refer?

Yes. 1st step was gunstock stain, then there was a 2nd step I can't remember, then the waterlox finish. Can't remember the stain that went on top of the gunstock? Thanks. Brian

Homestead finishing has a couple recipes for this kind of finish. I've used it a few times.
