  2. Very nice indeed! What a wonderful project. It looks great. Are the metal parts available aftermarket, or did you salvage some from an old drum? They look new in the pics.

    Nice project! Are wooden drums preferred for a particular kind of music? Is the sound different enough from metal or synthetic shells for a non-percussionist to hear? (I ask, having listened to countless hours of discussion of banjo rim materials and construction methods)

    Roger, parts are readily available aftermarket.

    Roger W. , the depth and diameter make the most difference in my opinion, but as you know there is a lot of debate when it comes to these questions.
