    Recent work

Here are two bowls recently completedD7C40CD7-FFEB-42DA-8DAC-5DD43B8B79A0.jpg Birdseye Maple & Walnut
I make 3-4 of these a year, they make nice wedding gifts.

I wish I had a truckload of this material.

Those are beautiful! I love the figure in the maple....is that due to angling the wood tangentially or just how the wood was figured?
    Thanks for sharing.

Butternut is rare enough, burl is something else. What a wonderful piece of wood.

Not sure I've ever seen butternut burl, that is spectacular. I've gotten my hands on one butternut tree (not common this far north) and it was a little cantankerous during the rough out when it was wet (lot of fibers tearing out or not being cut cleanly) but it was a peach to turn dry, and I really love it's color and texture finished.

Not seeing the sides of the platter it's hard to tell how you did that. Is the walnut rim over top of the birdseye or is the birdseye actually inset into the walnut?

Both are terrific works (and thanks for posting them).

    Best,

    Dave

Very nice! Butternut is one of my favorite.
Where did I put those band aids?
