    "Cleopatra's Roman Vase"

    "Cleopatra's Roman Vase"
    This piece has been segmented with Pommele Sapele and Teak, the turned vessel is 6" x 10" and the handles are Teak, all the work was hand carved no C&C was used. There are 16 hand carved fluted sections and 8 X's and well over 100 pieces total in this project the finish is mat Lacquer.

    Excellent work Bruce! The carved relief under the lip really caught my eye.

    How did you attach the handles?

    Thank you Brian for the nice comment, the handles are attached with Sterling Silver Wire and Epoxy. I used a small 1/2" piece of the wire as a pin drilling a hole just a bit bigger than the wire dipping the wire in epoxy and pushing them together, this was the top part: for the bottom a hole was drilled threw the handle into the vase and the epoxy covered pin was pushed in; a small amount of the sanding dust was added to the epoxy in the hole to blend the color.
