Has anyone ever deep engraved on metal and filled with a glow powder/transparent acrylic paint? Wondering how deep it needs to be? I am thinking about .003" min but not sure.

The problem with painting engraving is being able to clean up the ensuing smears without also removing the paint from the engraving. .003" deep is do-able with smaller letters, 1/8" tall or less but .005" deep is lots better. The bigger/wider the engraving, the deeper your 'minimum' will be. Get wide enough and painting by toothpick or syringe becomes a viable option...
