Any of y'all ever eat squirrel brains and scrambled eggs? Some folks around here look at it as a treat. Had to try some as a kid (parents made me), didn't find it very tasty.

    And ferrier and veterinarian services,
    annual shots,
    deworming,
    hay delivery and storage,
    cart/buggy tack,
    cart/buggy maintenance,
    training/trainer,

    pasture land,
    fencing,
    fence charger,
    drinking watering system,
    fly spray,
    fly masks,
companion(s) since horses are herd animals.

Costs of most of these things have sky-rocketed.

And, of course, the initial cost of a bullet-proof cart horse plus delivery. An amish man told me the best horses are retired cart racing horses. Risky to trust the lives of your family to a horse that might spook and bolt.

In my travels there was a little antique store in Chariton Iowa that had a similar sign. It has always stuck with me.
    It read:
    Everyone brings happiness
    Some when they come
    and some when they go.
