regarding the deaf school I remember when they moved the California school for the blind out of Berkeley to a nearby suburb with poor public transit. One selling point was the new campus would be beautiful not a old run down dump with overhead wires running across the open spaces.. Of course as soon as it was vacant it was painted and turned into student housing.

I bought two pianos from the Texas School for The Deaf on a state auction while in college in the 1980s
Two things -
First, people who are deaf still can feel the vibrations (as I understand it they play their music REALLY LOUD!!! at their parties ). The baby grand I had bought from the School was used so the students could gain an understanding of music.
Second, it makes a little more sense when you know the complete current name for the school which is something akin to the Texas school for the deaf and hearing impaired.

We are perilously on the edge of some political posts. Watch out people, I'd hate to edit or close this great thread.

Yes, there were a couple well over the line, not surprised they were deleted. Hate to lose this thread too.
The offending content in the 2 posts I referred to was deleted. It would be a sad thing to loose this thread. I've gotten more belly laughs from it than I've had in a long time
The haul for today.

Lost
As a guitarist, I play many gigs. Recently I was asked by a funeral director to play at a graveside service for a homeless man. He had no family or friends, so the service was to be at a pauper’s cemetery in the back country. As I was not familiar with the backwoods, I got lost.
I finally arrived an hour late and saw the funeral guy had evidently gone and the hearse was nowhere in sight. There were only the diggers and crew left and they were eating lunch.
I felt badly and apologized to the men for being late. I went to the side of the grave and looked down and the vault lid was already in place. I didn’t know what else to do, so I started to play.
The workers put down their lunches and began to gather around. I played out my heart and soul for this man with no family and friends. I played like I’ve never played before for this homeless man.
And as I played ‘Amazing Grace,’ the workers began to weep. They wept, I wept, we all wept together. When I finished I packed up my guitar and started for my car. Though my head hung low, my heart was full.
As I opened the door to my car, I heard one of the workers say, “I never seen nothin’ like that before and I’ve been putting in septic tanks for twenty years.”
Apparently, I’m still lost…
