7" Shop Fox Moulder- worth having?

Hey experts!Buddy has one he never used. He bought it used and has no profile cutters. I have always used routers or handplanes for moldings in the past.Is it worth picking up? 400 but would probably negotiate a little. Thanks for your time!Chris

Yes. It's a clone of the Williams and hussey. Great little machine.

$400? Heck yeah if you have the room and need moldings now and then. I have a W&H. For such a crude machine it turns out beautiful moldings. Knives are common to both machines, and there are plenty of knife grinders that will make any custom knife you might want.

Is it a W1812? That's the model I have. I've cut custom baseboard for a friend and done about 700;ln/ft of Plantation Shutter Louvers and have about the same to do again.

ShopFox got into patent trouble with that machine. I don't know details but remember when they were being sold for $4xx.00 new. The ones being sold were not variable speed, normally went for around 3X that price.
