    Clive Cussler

Has passed on. I will miss his books. I have read every one my library has in Kindle format but the last one that was just added just a few months ago,, Final Option that I have had on hold for the last month, will be available in 2 weeks. RIP Clive.

That's sad...he was pretty prolific and I've read many of his books, although none lately due to cost since I'm avid on Kindle Unlimited. I will hazard a guess that some new books with his name on them will continue to flow, however. So many of them already had other folks writing, as has become the custom for many "big name authors", and estates sometime continue to produce under the name with not-so-ghost-writers at the keyboard. Sometimes that's from existing ideas already sketched out or continuations of characters/situations/series that are already popular.

Have always enjoyed his books. I think he stopped writing several years ago and now has others do the writing for him including his son Dirk. I would image the books will continue as authorized by his family. I think Ludlum does the same.

He will be missed as he wrote fun books to read. I was always waiting to see where he would pop up in one of his books. He seemed to write himself into a small part such as a bar tender, prospector or something else.

I recently bought a DVD that had 20 of his books in audio format on ebay. (Not certain if this is legal or not.) I loaded couple on my phone so I can listen in the car or shop. I use a Bluetooth headset in the shop.

I read a few of his books. Good stories, but his lack of any real character development left me wanting.

My favorite author also. I have two bookcases of his books, and read most twice. Great adventure stories. Quite the car collection also. Must have been nice to be able to write them off, as they were featured in many of his books.

    Gonna miss him.

One thing I always appreciated about his books was that they were not filled with objectionable language, and gratuitous sexual accounts.

He managed to write adventure books for a predominantly male audience without being lurid....and they sold by the millions. That impresses me.

Ironically I just finished rereading Trojan Odyssey two days ago.

I enjoyed most of his books, but as with so many authors, his first 10 -15 years of writing were the best. I really enjoyed Raise The Titanic. It seems that big name authors get more formulaic and more full of themselves as they get more popular. I saw it with Dean Koontz and Tom Clancy in particular. Not so much with Grisham.
I am in love with Montana. For other states I have admiration, respect, recognition, even some affection, but with Montana it is love.... It seems to me that Montana is a great splash of grandeur....the mountains are the kind I would create if mountains were ever put on my agenda. Montana seems to me to be what a small boy would think Texas is like from hearing Texans. Montana has a spell on me. It is grandeur and warmth. Of all the states it is my favorite and my love.

Mark, things tend to go that way when the big name authors start having a "team" helping with the writing. It's the only way that multiple folks can work together and "sound" like one author. It can sometimes be a little less creative as a result.

I enjoy the thriller genre. I've burned through all of the Brad Thor, Vince Flynn, and Daniel Silva books. I'm focusing on reading the few Grisham offerings I've missed over the years. I tried to read Cussler some time ago but he just didn't trip my trigger. Seems to me the book I started was written in first person, which I found odd. Based on his popular appeal I'm in the minority. I'll have to give him another try. RIP Clive.
