    I need a BIGGER lathe

I think I'll need a bigger lathe to handle these. I got these 2 pieces today, one is red cedar and the other is catalpa.
I'd never heard of catalpa but I did a little research an it looks to me to be similar to butternut.
I'm not sure but it's very dry and there is tons more where this came from so I hope it's nice. Anyway, I've been thinking about a Laguna 1836 anyway so maybe now is the time.

There is currently a home made bowl lathe on a nearby for sale site that looks like it could accommodate a 40 inch swing. And a few months back, there was a lathe that could turn porch columns up to 20 ft, which bigger do you need?

You can never have too big of a lathe. MORE POWER!!!

I don't care for catalpa. It has a sweet kind of smell to it, but one I don't like. When dry, the bowls feel 'too light'. Color isn't bad, but I just don't care for it.
