Only thing that has changed is the cheapening of them to reduce costs and prices.

A new Northfield 36" will set you back about 30k.

Darcy, it seems like the C frame saws were a little lighter than the more squared off design of the Yates. I think the R and E and Greenlee were similar to the Yates frame. Dave

Yes, a lot of cast iron below the tables in those saws.

    Thumbs up

A couple more beautiful machines, great work Darcy.
    You’ve been busy.
I’ve never even seen a picture of a Y16 before, nice.

The saw looks great, but your tease about the rest of his shop has me wanting to see a shop tour when its all said and done! I doubt we ever will, however.

What else are you doing for him besides the two bandsaws and the jointer?

That looks like a heck of a saw. Very nice.

Have you ever messed with any ship's saws, Darcy? They look interesting. Here's one:

There was one of those in an old boat yard close to here that I used to hang around, but the guys got old and the land was worth way more than the boatyard could produce so they sold out. Never heard what happened to the tools, but the old wood boat shop is now a bunch of ugly condominiums with the normal BMW/Mercedes collection in the parking area. I saw it in action, was pretty darned cool.

    Jesus,

Nothing like like just doing something all in one fell swoop.

There will be nothing left to want for

I'm surprised that given the level and rarity of the woodworking machines that the owner had Darcy rehab a Bridgeport ( really common ) rather than a K and T or Cincinnati vertical/ horizontal. Dave

It was basically a never used machine. I took delivery of it, stored it, crated and shipped it.
