    Yates American Y36 almost done.

Another Yates almost done.Stripped to bare castings, tables ground, numerous parts made, several original parts tracked down, new wiring, tires, bearings, etc.IMG_20200211_152853_857.jpgIMG_20200211_152853_843.jpgIMG_20200211_152853_848.jpgIMG_20200211_152853_849.jpg

your client will have one of the great shops in the country. Those machines will out live me for sure. My 116 is pretty frail in comparison. Dave

That's gorgeous. I must admit a certain obsession with dust collection, it looks like there's a port on the bottom for that. Is that original, a latter addition, or intended for other purposes?

There is a round port on the lower back and an big oval one under the table tilt handwheel. I think that may be a clean out though. There is also a cover that goes over the front of the trunion to help with DC. That cover is missing on 99% of these saws, mostly because you have to take it off everytime you change a blade.

The woodworking machinery is only the half of it too. Can't wait to get it all installed for him.

Nice job buddy! Its good that you put the chair there for scale. I had a 36" Oliver and they are just huge! Miss the old beast. No room at the new digs.

Its littlest little brother is almost ready to go along too.

    An ultra rare Y16.

This machine made me set up my 14x54 Hendey lathe and learn how to make round things from larger round steel things.

Any idea how many Y16 were made? I think there were about 122 Y20 and the 16 is more rare. Dave

No idea Dave, they were designed and market to schools. You could wheel machine into the class room and show students the various parts, how to set one up, etc.

I have owned, had in my possession a y16, y20, y30 and y36. If I find a Y42 I would probably have to keep that one.

Beautiful work, Darcy! Your customer is wise to have two sizes, nice to have a small saw also.

Very nice work, I love the top wheel guard.

It's amazing how little has changed in band saws over the decades...........Rod.
