Exactly. An example: In the consumer electronics field, there's a company making money hand over fist by getting the public, the vast majority of whom don't have engineering dgrees, to fork over lots of cash for an item that's pretty mundane. In private, their marketing and sales execs are pretty upfront about it, too: the amazing power of clever marketing. The CEO lives in a mansion. Have they been sucessful in thwarting criticism in magazine reviews and elsewhere by threatening legal action? You betcha. Am I going to identify them? No way.

    Gimme a BREAK!

    Hi Folks,
I've perused this thread and can't believe my eyes! THOUSANDS of XXX sites sit out there containing "teen" and even "sub-teen" pornography and SMC has to worry about the legal ramifications of unsolicitated and "free" threads intended to support idiots like me in their pursuit of the noble hobby of woodworking? GIVE ME A BREAK!

I am so busy REMAKING my projects that I don't have time to make them the FIRST time!

I guess On and Off sounds like a variation to me. See you in court?

Well, I'm glad to see what happened to the missing thread. I thought I had really lost my marbles and spent twenty minutes trying to find the thread. I think that if threads are blown away, there should be a notice to that effect.

BTW, for the most part, I did not find it too offensive. You should visit some of the other high spirited forums out there. I'm from New Hampshire and we have real town meetings where people get up and really speak their mind. This is tame compared to that.

Yes, but that is one reason why we don't allow politics on this board, which are almost always passionately charged topics. There is no room for heated arguments, biting sarcasm, personal attacks, flaming, or any of the like on this forum. We don't aim to be like other forums out there--we've seen every variety, being in the Internet business, and spending 8 to 12 hours per day behind a computer screen. We have our own vision for SawmillCreek, and to put it simply, there's enough people out there that like what we provide.
