    Outdoor Table Finish

I'm going to build an outdoor table out of white oak. My thoughts are that I should use an epoxy like West System 105/207 with a clear varnish on top. At least West seems to leave you on your own as far as recommending an actual product to go on top rather than just generic types of products. Can anyone recommend a clear finish this application? I'd likely prefer to brush or wipe it on rather than spray, because I have very little experience with spraying.

    Thanks,
    Charles

Good quality deep tint base oil house paint with no added pigment. Goes on cloudy, dries clear and offers good protection, more than your outdoor varnishes. Maybe not as durable as epoxy, but even good quality like SW or Pratt and Lambert are far cheaper than West, plus easier to apply. Can be reapplied like paint in a few years as needed after scraping and feathering. If you insist on varnish Epifanes seems to be the spar many like.
