Do I need to seal the seam of my new Atoma 400?

Hi. I just purchased an Atoma 400 diamond plate to be used exclusively for flattening waterstones. I've seen a few suggestions in old threads here that it may extend the life of the stone to seal the seam between the diamond impregnated part and the base. One guy suggests marine epoxy and another mentions 'laquer'. For those of you who have been using the Atoma to flatten waterstones, have you had any problems with the unsealed version? I intend to flatten the stones in my sink (the Atoma would be exposed to a lot of running water)

    Thanks!

I don't know the details about what you're talking about, but I have been using Atoma replacement sheets on a granite surface plate, under running water, for several years now, and neither the 140, or the 400 sheet have peeled the least little bit anywhere. I don't know, but wouldn't think the adhesive would be any different.

I have an Atoma 400 for a couple years now. No peeling whatsoever.

Thanks all. I was sort of guessing that most people didn't bother and were fine.
