Saw Etch ID - Warranted Superior "Hawkeye" Cast Steel

I lonely 28" 3.5 ppi rip saw followed me home over the weekend. The previous owner mentioned that I could always "paint a picture on it". For $5 I figured I would save it from becoming a canvas.

Anyone ever heard of the Hawkeye Brand?

Here is a somewhat poor quality picture of the etch:

There's never enough time to do it right, but there's always enough time to do it over.

Hard to tell from a faint etch, but if I were to guess, I'd say it's a Simonds Second Quality Saw. They were all named after Indians like Pontiac, Iroquois, The Sioux, King Phillip and Osceola. Some were named after tribes, and some after Chiefs in those Tribes. As many might know, Haweye was a white man who lived with the Mohicans in James Fenimore Cooper's Novel, "Last of the Mohicans".
