I took a long hiatus from woodworking (20 years or so). I'm still setting up shop. I found a good deal on a older Laguna 18/47 lathe that came with lots of blanks and two chucks, a few no name chisels. Anyway, this bowl is the first thing I turned on it. It is about 6" across and made from myrtle wood.
There are some really nice blanks that are figured claro walnut, padauk, butternut, cherry, and a few I can't identify.
Once I get the "feel" back, I'll try one of those. I have found a lot of good info on this forum!
The finish is waterlox and micro crystalline wax.
Very plain, but I'm not taking chances yet!
